Couple Therapy
Are you having the same arguments over and over? Or maybe you and your partner aren’t talking much at all, and so much has been left unspoken that it feels overwhelming to start unpacking it all.
Almost every couple I see wants to communicate better. Much of my work with couples has been helping young adults make big decisions when they feel stuck, such as whether to get married, where to live, or whether to have children. I help couples understand what’s really happening beneath their arguments (or silence), so you can build a strong foundation for your future together, no matter the issue.
Training & Background
I’ve taken a special interest in working with couples since the beginning of my career, and completed training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is an evidence-based approach that draws on attachment theory to help couples identify negative underlying conflict cycles to create new, positive experiences together. I find that the focus on emotions, as well as understanding attachment, marries well with depth-oriented work to create a fuller experience,
My Approach
I take a collaborative and direct approach to support couples in working towards their desired changes. Because we’re focused on changing the underlying cycle, both people share accountability for patterns within the relationship. We’ll work towards understanding how your early relationships and experiences with broader social systems shape the current state of the relationship, while paying close attention to the process of your interactions.
Logistics
We’ll meet 1-2x weekly in person, online, or in an agreed-upon hybrid format. Couple sessions are $290 for 50 minutes. 75 or 90-minute sessions may be available at an additional fee. I can either provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement or submit out-of-network claims on your behalf. When I’m able, I offer sliding scale slots based on financial need - if cost feels prohibitive, please reach out so we can discuss a fee that is doable for you.
